President Luke signs Executive Order banning character assassination

BRAN DISTRICT – President Stephen Luke signed Executive Order 0005 into law on Tuesday evening, as an additional one to his already existing three, which he signed on January 8th. The other executive orders included the creation of the Dracul Astronomy Research Organization, one to declare pedophilia as terrorism, and creating Workers’ Day as a new national holiday.

Executive Order 0005 focuses on the subject of personal disagreement, specifically when individuals cannot find a compromise in the middle of a heated disagreement and attacking one’s character comes into play. There have been previous incidents in Dracul where individuals have gone out of their way to destroy the reputation of others, simply because they did not agree or conform to other views. The government finally had enough of it and took action as they saw fit.

“There will always be moments when two or more will not agree on the same thing.” said President Luke after signing the bill into law. “Disagreement is part of debate and will always occur. What we are signing into law is the prohibition of destroying someone’s reputation based on lies, because they won’t agree with you or because you say something they don’t like.” he added. Several Draculians have seen this executive order as a way to combat or prevent radical views and actions on others.

The executive order makes a few examples of character assassination, however does not go into full detail, as it will leave that up to courts to determine when handling cases of related incidents. The law comes a week after the incident with former ally, Cycoldia and their monarch’s actions, however the incident was not mentioned as a reason for creating the new law, as the E.O. mentioned incidents in the past.

HIM Christina I of Cycoldia soon after the initial publication of our article, condemned the Executive Order, accusing it of “effectively banning free speech”, even though the Executive Order specifically states that “free speech will not be infringed upon”, and that “ruining the reputation of another person, when their statements contain misinformation and blur the line on said disagreement”, is the part that is illegal.

“It’s awfully strange, because Her Majesty has always said that her intentions were never to bash my staff, even though it’s pretty clear by her statements in public that it was the intended goal.” said President Luke. “If she never bashed anyone, why does my executive order bother her so much? It has nothing to do with her or Cycoldia. Her release of statements is doing nothing for Cycoldia except making their once somewhat respected nation look like drama. It’s time they focus on Cycoldia. We’ve moved on past the incident and it’s time their monarch think maturely and do the same.”

Federal level encourages senator candidates to prepare for February

February 7th is the target date for all state senator candidates to prepare by, as that date is set as the next state elections. As of now only one candidate has shown support out of South Dracul, Karl Frederick.

With Vice President Connor Modena rising from Senator to Senate President, it’s necessary to fill the gap in Parliament in order to have the proper amount of votes for legislation.

Over the past year and a half, Parliament has ran short staffed, as several of its past members have either retired or were removed due to inactivity. Requirements have changed over the years as well, making it difficult for some to become eligible.

With the removal of two North Dracul Senators, North Dracul elections will also be carried out with two positions open. All candidates need to announce their candidacy to Citizen Services before January 24th and begin their campaigns in Dracul. Currently there are three members in the Parliament.

Chemical odor at Dracul Houston Embassy reports all clear

HOUSTON – A chemical odor and faint smoke were reported early this morning at the Dracul Houston Embassy, described as a burnt heavy plastic smell, causing nausea and dizziness to those inside the building.

Houston Fire Department responded at 4:50am to investigate the foul odor and smoke, but determined the cause was due to an oven in the kitchen, probably related to the self-cleaning feature on the device. Fire crews investigated the oven and found no flames or cause for immediate alarm.

No one inside required medical attention and the fire department advised the building be vented through doors and windows. According to the Embassy staff, the foul odor has started to dissipate, however is still present.

No word on if the embassy will temporarily close until the odor fully dissolves.

An interview with President Luke, his success, goals, and issues faced.

KBRN was fortunate enough to have a sit down with newly elected President Stephen Luke, who was open about discussing the challenges, goals, and victories during this short amount of time in office so far.

Mr. President, I appreciate you taking the time to have this discussion of everything that’s occurred since your swearing in. How are things going so far?

Well Bruce, I’m quite pleased with the way things are going as of late. There have been a couple of bumps in the road, especially along the lines of diplomacy, but we’re staying dedicated towards progress for our community.

What’s been the most success you’ve seen since becoming President so far?

The amount of activity and involvement from other micronations. I feel that when people see an active leader, they’re more willing to participate with the community, because at the end of the day everyone wants to be led by someone who’s showing dedication themselves. I respected President Howie, but his personal and work life was too much for Dracul, which led to poor approval ratings and him not seeking re-election.

I’m sure it must be comforting to see the community reactivating, jobs being carried out, and others communicating on a daily basis now.

Yes it’s definitely something that has helped keep me on track, stay active myself, and make changes that will grow us even further.

I know you’ve signed three executive orders, which include declaring pedophiles as terrorists, the astronomy association, and a new labor holiday. Lots of people have asked specifically about the astronomy association. How exactly will that function and be open for business?

Well DARA, (Dracul Astronomy Research Association) is tasked with identifying stars and planets in space using telescopes, which will be used to increase the solar system education within the micronational community. When it will launch will be sometime in February and we’re welcoming all micronations to be a part of it.

I’m definitely interested in that myself and I surely look forward to hearing more about that. What is one of the largest goals of yours for your first term in office?

Citizenship growth, participation, and working more closely with our friends in the community. A large issue in micronationalism is that so many nations will sign treaties with others and then never speak to them again. Communication is key, and not only that, but goals need to be established for two nations to accomplish together. I look forward to establishing goals for our friends and us to work on together.

Now on a topic of most recent concern, a lot of people are asking what is going on with Cycoldia and Dracul?

This is a pretty twisted situation we’ve found ourselves in. Cycoldia was always a friend to Dracul and we got along quite well during our mutual recognition. There was a debate over social issues between their monarch and three Draculians, which was mostly respectful to one another, but there came a point where Her Majesty took things too far and started demanding their acceptance of her views, even to the point of demanding their termination from office. I explained to her that there’s going to be a difference in views during a debate, but she was not satisfied with that.

Do you believe there will be a chance at Dracul and Cycoldia reestablishing relations in the future?

At this point… probably not. I don’t think she ever truly cared about Dracul, since she rarely ever asked about us and only talked about herself when speaking to us. I for one was not amused when called a ‘silent endorser’ of other peoples views, just because of my refusal to debate them or silence other’s views. The fact that she wrote statements for all of Cycoldia and her allies to read, goes to show that her intentions were to publicly shame their names and scare them out of office. An ally trying to intimidate my staff is not going to be tolerated and is very risky to state relations. It was at that point that we terminated relations with them, especially since it was not the first time she took such actions. The most she has against us is a treaty violation, which one should ask themselves, “why would Dracul keep a treaty with someone who insults their government?”.

How has the micronational community reacted to this ongoing issue, and has anyone reached out to you personally about it?

We’ve received a lot of support from the community on our decision to terminate relations. I’ve also had a lot of people bad mouth Her Majesty to me, due to I suppose past issues they must of had with her, but I’ve kept it professional and disregarded those attacks on her. We’ve never had any intentions of making Cycoldia look bad, as any negative views they receive are based on their actions. Her Majesty was the first one to speak publicly about our staff and the break up, so it’s only fitting that we give our side of the account. I told her that it wasn’t a good idea and that nobody else would care about our decisions on our own relations. My advice was ignored and now we’re here.

I’m sure most people at this point just want you two both to part ways in a neutral manner and leave the issue in the past.

That’s what we wanted from the start, but it’s hard to do that when someone won’t stop releasing statements about others refusing to conform to their beliefs, or even going to the extent of demanding their termination. Lessons will be learned from this, on both sides of the spectrum. Another matter of concern is how their Prime Minister or General Assembly has not put their monarch in check for making statements which destroyed relations with an ally. She holds limited power, so they would have the right and duty to do such things, for the sake of state relations.

I’m sure I speak for many when I say I hope that matter can end soon on a positive or neutral note. I appreciate your time with us today and wish you well in your presidency.

Thank you!

Reports circulate of DeWaCo Estates Chairman’s passing

Reports began to circulate on Tuesday evening around 9:30 PM central, on the passing of the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates monarch, Chairman DeWayne Corbett. According to Corbett’s Facebook account, he had been battling several health issues, to the point of his doctors informing him of only months to live, back in May of 2021. According to His Majesty William I of DeHerrera, Corbett had been suffering from cancer, possibly due to exposure to Agent Orange from his time in service during the Vietnam War.

Chairman Corbett has been widely known in the micronational community since his launch of DeWaCo Estates, many times discussing world-wide political issues and promoting his local business.

We spoke with Stan Vaughn of Ourania on January 12th, since the two were close. Vaughn stated he reached out to Corbett’s wife for verification but has not heard back yet.

We have not confirmed the death of Chairman Corbett with any family members, however this article will be updated when more information is received and verified. Check back later for new reports.

Cycoldian Monarch’s Personal Dispute Leads to Break in Relations with Dracul

BRAN DISTRICT – Relations abruptly came to an end on Monday afternoon, between the nations of Dracul and Cycoldia, amidst a personal dispute of the monarch’s, against multiple Draculians. According to the Bran House and Department of State, this is not the first time the monarch of Cycoldia has either aided in or deliberately attacked personnel over their personal disagreements or conflicts. After further research it was discovered that Christina I and Cycoldia have had a history of this type of behavior with others, including spying and attempting to sway elections.

The incident which led to the decision of the mutual recognition’s dissolution started Thursday evening, as HIM Christina I launched a personal, controlled debate between Karl Frederick, Federal Naturalization Director, and Isidoro Amalfitano, nominee of President Luke’s Presidential Cabinet. According to sources, the debate was over the subject of transgenderism, with Frederick and Amalfitano stating their misunderstanding of how it was possible to transition from one gender to another. Christina I stated that she took offense to their views and considered it transphobia and homophobia, even though Frederick and Amalfitano stated they had nothing against her and used her preferred pronouns. Even after Christina I stated she was offended, she continued to participate in the debate, further attacking the two for refusing to conform to her beliefs.

Shortly after the argument was forcefully ended by President Luke in an attempt to restore order and peace in the communications server, Christina I released a statement from her office, stating the two individuals caused her emotional distress and were clutching to their religious beliefs as a reason to not change their views. In addition to Frederick and Amalfitano being mentioned in her statement, Christina I named Bruce Cooper, Administrator for Small Business as an individual for her concern, as he was moderator on the communications server and did not stop the two from voicing their views during the debate. Later, President Luke was accused by the monarch of ‘silently endorsing’ the opposing views, since he stated he did not want to participate in the debate and would not silence personal views of others.

Another incident which led to the decision of the treaty dissolution was an incident in 2021, where Christina I took statements she previously made on Bruce Cooper, over several disagreements they had between one another and gave them to a former Draculian and citizen of Cycoldia, who was removed for attempting to power grab within the Government, for him to use to verbally assault Dracul and their image within the community for an article. When confronted about her actions, she stated that she was aiding a fellow Cycoldian in an information request, even though she was advised on what the information would be used for. After the incident, the Dracul State Department decided to forgive and forget, since the information was ultimately disregarded.

President Luke spoke with Christina I this morning, explaining the reasons for the treaty dissolution and mentioned that if targeting Draculians through statements were to cease in the future, that relations could possibly be re-established at a later time. The Government of Cycoldia then launched retaliation against President Luke, revoking awards they issued to him, citing his approval of treaty dissolution without advanced notice was a violation of the treaty. President Luke pushed back, stating Article III which is cited as violated has to do with gifted territory by Cycoldia and not the mutual recognition treaty itself. This isn’t the first time that Cycoldia’s reputation has fallen within the community, as they were removed by a vote of 8-1-1 from the GUM organization last year, amidst the same personal dispute behavior from their monarch, according to former GUM members and others within the community.

President Luke stated this afternoon that he wishes to keep this issue as minimal as possible, trying to salvage the remaining positivity between Dracul and Cycoldia for future relations, however continued statements with inaccuracies are being released from Christina I’s office, making that difficult to accomplish. The Cycoldian Monarch continued arguing with the decision Dracul made, claiming that her statements as monarch have no effect on the Cycoldian Government, however many saw that as an excuse to avoid the blame for Dracul and Cycoldia’s break up. The statements were initially released three days before President Luke and his staff were sworn into office.

Howie sworn in as Dracul’s first Surgeon General

BRAN DISTRICT – Former President and now Admiral Dmitri Howie was sworn in as the first Surgeon General of Dracul, early Sunday morning. According to the Bran House, Howie was chosen for the position due to his medical school experience, specifically as a pathologist. Howie was unable to complete his schooling due to sudden health issues which he still suffers from to this day.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, President Stephen Luke felt this position was necessary more than ever, since Dracul previously lacked medical knowledge and advice for dealing with the ongoing pandemic. Howie has supported vaccinations since the start of the pandemic and hopes to provide education to encourage everyone to practice good hygiene standards like hand washing and social distancing.

The position will allow Howie to focus on his health and full time job, since Surgeon General isn’t a position demanded as frequently as President. Howie said he will still provide any advice to President Luke in times of need.

Howie was made an honorary Admiral because of his position as Surgeon General. The position does not enlist him in the Draculian Navy, nor does it come with any authority or power over the Defense Department.
