Woman’s remains found in alligator jaws near Dracul

SOUTH DRACUL – Police are investigating a potential alligator attack after a woman was discovered dead near Horsepen Bayou.

According to police, the victim’s husband reported her missing early Tuesday morning. He stated that she went for a walk around 7:30 p.m. on Monday and never came back.

The dive team found her remains in the jaws of an alligator near Coastal Oak Drive, just west of El Dorado Boulevard, close to her home on Brook Forest Drive.

A sergeant shot and killed the alligator “to prevent it from further damaging the remains.”

Police are waiting for autopsy results to determine her cause of death and whether it was the alligator who killed her.

The name of the woman in her 60s hasn’t been released.
